Cayuse River Trout Fishing

Cayuse River Trout Fishing

The Cayuse River, located in Idaho’s Clearwater National Forest, is a prime destination for trout fishing enthusiasts. The river is known for its pristine, gin-clear waters and abundant native West Slope cutthroat trout.

The Cayuse River is home to native West Slope cutthroat trout, which can grow up to 20 inches. The portion of the river around camp is catch and release only.

Anglers often use Western dry flies and nymphs fished in current seams created by rocks and logs. During hatchless hours, these techniques are particularly effective.

We have multiple camps we can fish from. We generally fish from our main camp and use horses to go to the hard to hike to spots. We also have another camp that we use during the fall that is right along the river. We can also set up day camps for lunch in multiple spots along the Cayuse or the Clearwater River. Feel free to contact us to discuss how we can customize your fishing adventure.

The river flows through a beautiful, unspoiled high-mountain landscape, offering stunning views and a peaceful, secluded fishing environment.
